A COUNCIL by-election is set to be held in Treorchy after a councillor was elected to the Senedd.
The ballot for the seat on Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Council is set for Thursday, June 25, if contested.
It comes after Plaid Cymru’s Sera Evans, who previously served as a councillor for the area, stood down after she was elected to the Senedd earlier this month to represent the Afan Ogwr Rhondda constituency.
Nomination papers must be delivered to the returning officer no later than 4pm on Friday, May 29.
Applications to be added to the register of electors in order to vote at this election must reach the electoral registration officer by midnight on Tuesday, June 9.
Applications, amendments, or cancellations of postal votes must reach the electoral registration officer by 5pm on Wednesday, June 10
Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the electoral registration officer by 5pm on Wednesday, June 17.
Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of a medical emergency or for work/service reasons must reach the electoral registration officer below by 5pm on Thursday, June 25.
The medical emergency must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday, June 17.
To apply on the grounds of work/service the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday, June 17.
The other councillor who represents Treorchy is Councillor Bob Harris of Labour who is also cabinet member for communities, culture, and leisure.
Currently RCT Council is made up of 58 Labour members, seven Plaid Cymru, five independents, two Conservatives, one Green Party, and one unspecified member.
