Farm 24 calls for governments to back British farming

ANDREW RT DAVIES has called on governments at both ends of the M4 to back British farming as he marks Farm 24.

Farm 24 is the UK’s biggest agricultural digital event created to celebrate British farming.

Speaking from his farm in the Vale of Glamorgan, the South Wales Central MS said farmers in Wales and Britain “increasingly feel that they don’t have support in the government buildings of the UK.”

Recent changes to inheritance tax from Westminster and plans for a new support scheme for Welsh farming from Cardiff Bay have led to widespread farming protests in recent years.

Andrew RT Davies MS, Senedd Member for South Wales Central and former Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said: “Farm 24 is a great opportunity to celebrate the work that goes into feeding our nation, and I’m proud every day that I get to play my small part in that mission.

“Sadly, recent policies brought forward by the UK Government and Welsh Government mean that farmers increasingly feel that they don’t have support in the government buildings of the UK.

“I want to urge governments at both ends of the M4 to back British farming so we can boost our food security and help our rural communities to thrive.”
