Road closed and homes evacuated after early morning blaze in Kidwelly

Emergency services remain at scene as investigations continue and residents offered support

EMERGENCY services remain at the scene of a serious property fire in Kidwelly following an incident in the early hours of Tuesday (March 24).

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed they were alerted by the fire service at approximately 4:20am to the blaze on Lady Street. The road has been closed since, with officers maintaining a cordon as investigations continue.

Crews from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are working alongside police, with multiple emergency teams still in attendance at the scene.

A number of neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution. While most residents have since been allowed to return, a small number remain displaced. Access to some homes is still restricted due to ongoing safety concerns.

Support for residents

Residents affected by the incident who require housing assistance are being urged to contact Carmarthenshire County Council’s Housing Team on 01554 899389.

Temporary support facilities have also been set up, with centres open at Carmarthen Leisure Centre and Canolfan Pentre Awel in Llanelli until 10:00pm on Tuesday for those in need of assistance.

Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
