THE TEAM at Tesco Ammanford is celebrating a busy and impactful autumn, marked by a series of fundraising efforts, charity partnerships and community-focused initiatives aimed at supporting families, local organisations and young people across the area.
The store raised over £2,000, having spent weeks strengthening relationships with community groups and putting the store’s Community Budget to meaningful use, ensuring help goes directly to organisations making a difference.
The team kicked things off with a fundraising day supporting the Ammanford AFC Juniors, collecting just under £500. The funds will go toward much-needed equipment, helping children in the community stay active and engaged throughout the year.
The store also contributed £570 to help the Welsh Karate team raise funds for the Kickboxing World Championships in Mexico, supporting talented local athletes on an international stage.

In addition, the store has also been working closely with the community family centres in Garnant and Betws, donating tea and coffee to support the many families who rely on their services.
Another community-focused event involved the store partnering with the Gwaun Cae Community Centre Foodbank, providing further tea and coffee donations to help meet growing demand.
Tesco Ammanford also strengthened its partnership with the local Red Cross, providing clothes for individuals and families in need.
Steve Roach, community champion for Tesco Ammanford, said: “It has been such a lovely and fulfilling experience to partner and support with so many local groups and initiatives this autumn.
“Our fundraisers and charity activities have been a real eye-opener on how generous and supportive Ammanford is.”
The team’s efforts are evident not only in local sports, food and clothing, but also in education as the team has been supporting the Amman Valley Comprehensive School’s Food Science department, reinforcing the store’s commitment to working closely with young people and the wider school community.

Steve added: “We can’t thank the Ammanford residents enough for their continued support and donations to these great causes and we can’t wait to see how we can help and support the town even more.”
Another partnership that the team has been participating in is with Shadows, a local wellbeing organisation providing support for people experiencing depression and grief. Through money raised from the store’s book donations, Tesco Ammanford was able to contribute £120 to support the group’s ongoing work.
Customers also showed generosity during a visit from TVIC, a local group supporting visually impaired people. With a strong show of support from shoppers and colleagues alike, the team raised over £1,100, helping fund essential travel costs for its members.
To round out the activities the store welcomed the Youth Cancer Trust, whose volunteers visited to raise awareness and funds to support young people affected by cancer.
Continuing on, Steve Roach said: “Since October, we have truly seen the strength and generosity of our community. We’re incredibly proud of our colleagues and customers for coming together to support so many worthwhile causes.
“Every donation, every event, and every act of kindness helps make a real difference to people in our area.
“We’re committed to being more than just a store — we want to be a positive force in Ammanford, standing alongside the groups and families who make our community what it is.”
