Court told blood test showed cannabis level above legal limit
A MOTORIST has denied a drug-driving charge after police alleged he was over the legal limit when stopped near Aberaeron.
Thomas Evans, of Penlanymôr, Tumble, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 8, charged with driving a vehicle while the proportion of a specified controlled drug in his blood exceeded the legal limit.
The court heard that the incident is alleged to have taken place on July 20, 2025, when Evans was stopped on the A487 near Aberaeron. A subsequent blood test is said to have shown 2.2 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) per litre of blood, which is above the prescribed legal limit.
Evans pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on unconditional bail.
The case was adjourned for trial and is due to be heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on April 2.
