Tenby and Brawdy ranked among the top five brightest locations in the country
PEMBROKESHIRE has been named home to two of the sunniest places in Wales, according to new research analysing average sunshine hours across the country.
The study, compiled by MG Timber and Online Marketing Surgery using data from the Met Office, ranked Welsh areas based on their average monthly sunshine hours recorded between 1991 and 2020.
Tenby was ranked the third sunniest location in Wales, recording an average of 138.84 hours of sunshine per month. Nearby Brawdy also made the top five, coming fourth with 138.64 hours.
The report found that St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan claimed the top spot overall with 140.98 hours of sunlight per month, narrowly ahead of Valley in Anglesey.
Aberdaron in Gwynedd completed the top five.

At the other end of the scale, Bala in Gwynedd was found to be the least sunny area in Wales, averaging just 98.79 hours of sunshine per month.
Cwmystwyth in Ceredigion and Llandrindod Wells in Powys also ranked among the least sunny locations.

Researchers said the findings were based on average sunshine data recorded across all 12 months of the year at climate stations throughout Wales.
