Three arrested after alleged stabbing in Swansea

Road closed as detectives gather evidence

THREE men have been arrested following a stabbing incident in Swansea late on Wednesday night (Sept 24).

The disturbance happened at around 10:15pm on St Helen’s Road in the Sandfields area, with police later cordoning off Richardson Street as part of their investigation.

Two people were taken to hospital with injuries believed to have been caused by a knife. Police confirmed both remain in a stable condition.

A 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from Swansea, along with a 19-year-old man from Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, were arrested soon after the incident.

Witness account

A chef working in a nearby Chinese takeaway told The Herald he noticed what appeared to be a knife lying in the road before officers arrived.

Residents also reported seeing a large emergency response, with several police vehicles and detectives on the scene throughout Thursday. Our reporter observed officers gathering evidence at Richardson Street at around 1:00pm.

Police statement

South Wales Police said officers will remain in the area while enquiries continue and warned that the increased presence could cause disruption to traffic and pedestrians.

A spokesperson said: “We understand this incident will have caused concern to the local community. Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area to provide reassurance, and we would ask the public to avoid Richardson Street and the surrounding roads while inquiries are ongoing.”

Appeal for information

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the Sandfields area around the time of the incident to come forward.
