Trainees ‘lifeblood’ of growing Welsh accountancy firm

New recruit Megan Morgan already passes three exams after joining Ashmole and Co in Neath

A FAST-GROWING accountancy firm with offices across south and west Wales has said its future success depends on investing in young trainees.

Ashmole and Co, one of the largest chartered certified accountancy practices in south Wales, has praised the impact of its apprenticeship scheme as new recruit Megan Morgan settles into her role at the company’s Neath office.

Megan, who lives on her family’s farm near Tycroes in Ammanford, joined the firm after completing her A Levels at Ysgol Maes y Gwendraeth in Cefneithin. Since starting as a Trainee Accountant, she has already passed three AAT exams.

The firm’s apprenticeship programme continues to attract increasing numbers of applicants each year. Megan was one of three trainees employed last summer, with a further five trainee places expected to be filled this year.

In her day-to-day role, Megan supports clients by preparing accounts and tax returns for a range of individuals and businesses, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

Dave Morgan, Partner at Ashmole and Co’s Neath office, said developing young talent was vital for both the firm and the wider profession.

“It is important as a profession that we help nurture the next generation of professional accountants,” he said.

“Trainee staff members are the lifeblood for the future success of our firm. We are a local business and are always keen to employ those who live locally.”

Megan said she was grateful for the opportunity and has enjoyed being part of the team.

“I’m grateful to Ashmole and Co for giving me the opportunity to join the team as a trainee,” she said.

“It is rewarding to feel like I am helping clients, ensuring things are done correctly and accurately. I take pride in my work, knowing that information and data are presented neatly, understandable and completed with a high level of detail.

“There is also a great sense of satisfaction in passing professional exams and being able to apply the theory to real life situations, allowing my skills to improve daily.”

Outside of work and study, Megan enjoys spending time on the family farm, where she also keeps her horse.

Ashmole and Co’s Neath office is based at 151 Windsor Road. The firm says it regularly has job opportunities for both qualified and non-qualified candidates.

Anyone interested in joining the organisation is invited to email a CV to [email protected], or apply for vacancies listed on the firm’s website at www.ashmole.co.uk.
