Withybush hospital worker to run Tenby 10k for ward fundraising

Healthcare Support Worker hopes to give back to Acute Frailty Unit

A WITHYBUSH Hospital healthcare worker is set to take on the Long Course Weekend 10k in Tenby to raise money for the Acute Frailty Unit where she works.

Iesha Henderson, a Healthcare Support Worker at Withybush Hospital, will be running the 10k event on June 28, 2026, in support of the unit, which cares for some of the hospital’s most vulnerable patients.

Ms Henderson said the challenge is personal, as she was born at Withybush Hospital and has worked there for nearly four years.

She said she wanted to give something back to the service.

“I have been taking running seriously for about four months whereas before I would go for a run maybe once every few weeks,” she said.

“I enjoy running now so I thought this would be a great way to raise money for our ward.”

Ms Henderson said her two young sons have helped keep her motivated during training.

“I have two gorgeous boys who are big motivations to keep me training. They enjoy riding their bikes while I run and they love lapping me multiple times!” she added.

Tara Nickerson, Fundraising Manager for Hywel Dda Health Charities, wished her well ahead of the event.

“Huge good luck to Iesha, we look forward to supporting you in Tenby!” she said.

Ms Nickerson explained that charitable donations play an important role in enhancing patient care across the NHS.

“The generous charitable donations we receive don’t replace NHS funding. Instead, they are used to provide items and activities above and beyond core NHS expenditure, such as more welcoming surroundings for patients, families and staff, and research into, and the development of, treatments,” she said.

Anyone wishing to support Ms Henderson can donate through her fundraising page online.
