SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Fflint Wrecsam, has welcomed a further cash injection from the National Lottery to help secure an adventure playground in his constituency.
AVOW, the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham, has received £499,589 from the National Lottery Community Fund to secure The Land at Caia Park in Fflint Wrecsam and also Gwenfro Valley at Plas Madoc in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
Mr Rowlands, Welsh Conservative spokesperson for Education and Families said: “I am delighted AVOW has received these funds to continue to support services for children and young people in the Caia Park area of my constituency.
“This organisation does a fantastic job helping people in Wrexham and it is good to see money being made available to secure the adventure playground. It is so important that we have areas like this where children can feel safe and just enjoy playing outside.
“It is a really deserving scheme and in these challenging times it is more important than ever that the support is there for those who need it most.
“I shall certainly be taking up their offer to visit and see for myself the difference they are making to the community.”
In a letter to Mr Rowlands, Claire Pugh, AVOW’s play and community development manager said the funding would go towards The Land and Gwenfro Valley which are AVOW managed Adventure Playgrounds, based in Caia Park and Plas Madoc.
She added: “Dedicated play teams welcome hundreds of children, young people, and families to the facilities each year and for over 35 collective years, our Adventure Playgrounds have been safe havens- nurturing confidence, resilience and aspiration through play.
“This project will help embed Play, Youth Development and Family Support in Caia Park and Plas Madoc, Wrexham, reducing isolation and exclusion and fostering aspiration. It will support long term resilience and strengthen community owned provision.”
Claire also invited Mr Rowlands to visit them and see for himself what they were doing to help the local community.
