North Wales Healthcare Assistant flying high for Marie Curie

ANGELA OWEN, as a Healthcare Assistant with the Marie Curie Nursing Service in North Wales, sees first-hand the difference end-of-life care makes to local families. Having worked on the frontline for more than eight years, Angela is passionate about supporting the charity that provides such vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

Her latest fundraising challenge was her most daring yet – a tandem skydive to raise money for Marie Curie.

Before taking the leap, Angela said: “I have decided to do a tandem skydive to raise money for Marie Curie because I see how important it is to support the fundraising efforts of the charity, so that our local nursing service can continue to be there for people who need us – at the time they need us most.”

After safely landing back on the ground, Angela described the experience as “absolutely amazing” and was delighted to have completed the challenge.

Victoria Hardy, Marie Curie Senior Community Fundraiser for Wales, said: “We are incredibly proud of Angela for taking on this nerve-wracking but thrilling challenge in support of Marie Curie.

“Not only did she show tremendous courage, but she has also raised an amazing £1,350 so far to help fund the care and support we provide to people living with a terminal illness and their families.

“Angela witnesses every day the impact of Marie Curie’s work in the local community, so it is particularly inspiring to see her go above and beyond to raise these vital funds.

“We would love to hear from anyone who has been inspired by Angela’s achievement and would like to take on their own fundraising event or challenge.

“Whether it’s a skydive, sponsored walk, coffee morning or something completely different, our team is here to help.”
