Harry Wilson will lead Cymru out for the first time tonight (18 November) as they face North Macedonia in their final World Cup qualifier.
With regular captains Aaron Ramsey and Ben Davies sidelined through injury, and Ethan Ampadu – who wore the armband during Saturday’s 1–0 victory over Liechtenstein – serving a suspension, the responsibility falls to the Fulham playmaker. The 28-year-old has never captained a senior side at club or international level.
Cymru must win at Cardiff City Stadium to secure second place in their qualifying group and guarantee a home play-off semi-final in March. Defeat would still see Craig Bellamy’s side progress to the play-offs courtesy of their Nations League ranking, but they would be forced to contest their semi-final away from home.
The venue for a potential one-legged final, like the semi-final, will be determined by a draw on Thursday.
The decisive World Cup qualifier takes place at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 18 November, with kick‑off scheduled for 7:45 pm GMT, when Cymru host North Macedonia. The match will be broadcast live on BBC One Wales, BBC Three, and S4C, with streaming available via BBC iPlayer and S4C Online, and live commentary on BBC Sport
