US rap star Snoop Dogg to visit Swansea City for first time – supporters told to be ready

MINORITY co-owner Snoop Dogg has urged Swansea City supporters to welcome him in true American style when he makes his first visit to the club this week.

The rapper, who holds a stake in the Sky Bet Championship side alongside US television host Martha Stewart and Croatia international Luka Modric, will attend Tuesday night’s fixture against Preston North End at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Ahead of kick-off, he has asked the sold-out crowd to take their seats early and twirl the complimentary towels handed out at the turnstiles – a familiar tradition at American sporting events.

A message on Swansea’s official X account read: “@SnoopDogg is asking the Jack Army to join him in a pre-match towel twirl this evening. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats 20 minutes before kick-off and to twirl the towels as Snoop walks on the pitch.”

The post was accompanied by a short clip of the 54-year-old demonstrating how he would like supporters to take part.

His visit was confirmed last week. Speaking on the club’s website, he said: “I know it has been a long time coming, but I cannot wait to finally make my first visit to Swansea. From the moment we talked about me becoming an owner, I have been looking forward to being with you all at the Swansea.com Stadium.

“I have heard so many great things about the atmosphere, especially when we play under the lights. When I watched the Wrexham AFC game, where we showed we are the capital of Welsh football, the noise in the stadium sounded incredible even from over 5,000 miles away. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

The hip-hop star also made headlines at the Winter Olympics, serving as an honorary coach for Team USA and a special correspondent for broadcaster NBC, where he posed for photos with British curlers Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds.

Known for chart-toppers such as Gin and Juice, Snoop Dogg has enjoyed a music career spanning more than three decades, topping the UK charts and earning 16 Grammy nominations.
