Defendant admitted theft at retail premises
TAKING goods without payment has resulted in a fine for a Carmarthenshire man.
Michael Evans, aged 42, of Llanelli, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Feb 3) in connection with a theft offence said to have taken place on January 21, 2026.
The court heard that Evans stole confectionery and snack items from a shop, with the value of the goods falling below the threshold for more serious charges. He entered a guilty plea, which was accepted by the bench.
Magistrates imposed a fine of £180. He was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs along with a £48 victim surcharge.
Evans was further ordered to pay £34.99 in compensation to the retailer.
