Llandudno’s former Head Post Office could become restaurant and takeaway

Bangor-based “Mr Yummy Foods Ltd” has applied for permission for a change of use from a post office to a restaurant, with an ancillary takeaway and the installation of an extract canopy to the rear.

A NEW restaurant and takeaway could replace Llandudno’s former “Head Post Office”.

The plans have been submitted to Conwy County Council’s planning department for the former Head Post Office at 14 The Mail House, Vaughan Street.

Bangor-based “Mr Yummy Foods Ltd” has applied for permission for a change of use from a post office to a restaurant, with an ancillary takeaway and the installation of an extract canopy to the rear.

If granted planning permission, the restaurant would create 12 full-time jobs and five part-time roles equivalent to 12 full-time positions.

The restaurant is proposed to open between 11am and 11pm seven days a week. The company already runs a takeaway on Bangor High Street.

The Bangor takeaway sells kebabs, burgers, and pizzas. Nobody from the company was available for comment.

Neighbours are yet to be consulted, but the council has received an objection.

An unnamed resident wrote: “I was appalled when I received a copy of your planning request for ‘Mr Yummy Foods’, a takeaway open seven days a week, requiring a massive ventilator subsystem for the kind of food they are supplying.

“I am appalled that Conwy Council is even considering this application. Shame on you. What has Llandudno come to?”

The planning application will likely be discussed at a future Conwy County Council planning committee at the authority’s Coed Pella HQ in Colwyn Bay.
