SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is delighted to see improvement work starting at Greenfield Dock.
Mr Rowlands, Chair of the Senedd’s Cross-Party Group in Tourism and a keen supporter of keeping communities clean and safe said: “I am delighted to see this work being carried out by the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Funding as it will greatly improve this part of the river.
“It is good to see money being spent on improving locations on the River Dee, like Greenfield Dock as it will help improve the area and make it more attractive for both local residents and visitors alike.
“It is also very good news for the Flintshire Coastal Path which is an extremely popular venue for tourists and will no doubt encourage even more visitors to this area.”
The project, funded through the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Fund, will also support the commercial cockling and fishing operations that take place on site, which are valuable for the local economy.
Improvement work is expected to be completed by mid-March 2026.
The externally funded upgrade of the Dock complements the wider vision of Flintshire Coast Park, set out in the Coast Park Management Plan.
It aims to move forward from the legacy of heavy industry and will provide a haven where wildlife and nature can thrive, sustainable businesses can flourish, supporting jobs and volunteering, and enhancing an important visitor destination.
