Local care home hosts Welsh Water and National Grid for free community event

BRYN IVOR Lodge has celebrated the success of its recent free community event, which brought together residents, families, and neighbours for an afternoon of learning, support, and connection. The event welcomed special guests from DWR Cymru Welsh Water and National Grid, who delivered insightful talks about their organisations, community support schemes, and the range of free services available to help households manage costs and stay safe.

Representatives from both companies spent time answering questions, sharing practical advice, and offering attendees a variety of useful information packs and free gifts. The session was extremely well received, with visitors praising the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to learn about valuable resources available to them.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback, Bryn Ivor Lodge is delighted to announce that it will be running the event again this January, this time in collaboration with the local church. The upcoming session aims to build on the success of the first, offering even more support to the community.

In addition to Welsh Water and National Grid, Bryn Ivor Lodge will also be inviting Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and Age Connect Torfaen to join the day, ensuring attendees have access to a wide range of expert guidance—from financial advice to wellbeing support and services for older people.

Bryn Ivor Lodge hopes the January event will create another welcoming and informative space where the community can come together, access trusted advice, and enjoy a warm, supportive environment.

Liliana Ungureanu, General Manager of Bryn Ivor Lodge said: “Our goal is always to support not only our residents but the wider community, and events like this help us build those connections.

“The information shared by Welsh Water and National Grid proved invaluable, and we’re excited to expand the programme in January by partnering with the local church and welcoming other companies with their advice.”

Full details of the January event will be released in the coming weeks.
