Nearly 7,000 runners set to take part as organisers prepare for biggest event yet

THE 2026 Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K has officially sold out, with organisers confirming that this year’s event will be the largest in its history.

With just over a month to go until runners take to the streets of the popular seaside town on Sunday, July 5, all general entry places have now been snapped up.

A record 6,800 runners have signed up for this year’s race, making it the biggest Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K since the event was first launched.

Those still hoping to take part may be able to secure one of a limited number of charity places through lead charity Tŷ Hafan. Entries also remain available for several junior events, while volunteers are being encouraged to get involved behind the scenes.

The popular race, organised by Run 4 Wales, has become a fixture in the Welsh running calendar and attracts participants from across the country and beyond.

Runners will once again enjoy a scenic route showcasing some of Porthcawl’s most recognisable landmarks, including its beaches, town centre, the historic Grand Pavilion and the iconic lighthouse.

Participants will finish along the seafront, cheered on by spectators, with the unique opportunity to run through the Trecco Bay Showdome also included on the route.

Alongside the main race, organisers are planning a range of family-friendly activities, including a Toddler Dash, a Future Challengers race for young athletes and a one-mile Family Fun Run.

Steve Brace, Race Director at Run 4 Wales, said: “This year’s Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K is set to be bigger and better than ever before and we’re really looking forward to welcoming our record number of runners to the town.

“Runners can expect to experience a great atmosphere around the course and at the finish line and it’s set to be a fantastic day out for the whole family with lots to do in the event village and surrounding area.”

The Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K is the third event in the Run 4 Wales 10K Series, with the Kidney Wales Cardiff 10K in September completing the series.
