Driver admits causing death of dog walker in Llanpumsaint crash

A motorist has admitted causing the death of a dog walker in a Carmarthenshire village.

Daniel Wyke, 28, pleaded guilty to causing the death of 38-year-old Aaron Jones by dangerous driving in Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire.

Wyke, of Carmarthen, denied a separate charge of dangerous driving in Water Street, Carmarthen, following the collision, Swansea Crown Court was told.

Mr Jones died after being struck by a car while walking his dog on 23 December 2024, according to Dyfed-Powys Police. Wyke was arrested the following day but was not charged with causing death by dangerous driving until December 2025.

Addressing the defendant, Paul Thomas KC said he would be sentenced on 30 March. Wyke was disqualified from driving with immediate effect and granted bail until that hearing.
