Shoplifer and burglar given suspended jail term

Court told offences were aggravated by previous convictions for similar crimes

A MAN with a history of theft and burglary offences has been handed suspended prison sentences for his latest crimes in Llanelli.

Anthony Jones, 43, of Sandy Road, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 12th, where he admitted attempting to burgle homes and stealing from a supermarket.

The court heard Jones tried to enter two properties on Firth Road on January 7th with intent to steal, and earlier stole two steaks from Asda on December 11th, 2025.

Magistrates said the offences were aggravated by Jones’s previous convictions for theft and burglary.

Magistrates imposed a 12‑month prison sentence suspended for two years, citing the seriousness of the offences and his record of similar crimes. He was also ordered to undertake 25 days of rehabilitation activity and to pay £13.28 in compensation.
