Fundraising event held as thank you for care during cancer treatment
A TEACHING assistant from Llangennech has raised £4,000 for a local hospital’s chemotherapy unit following her own cancer treatment.
Danielle Allcard, who works at Ysgol Gymraeg Llangennech, organised a charity evening in aid of the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital.
The event, held in November 2025 at Llangennech Rugby Club, was arranged as a gesture of thanks for the care and support Danielle received while undergoing treatment.
Danielle said: “I wanted to give back to the Chemotherapy Day Unit as a thanks for their kindness and for looking after me so well whilst I was receiving chemotherapy treatment for ovarian cancer last year.
“The event went very well. It was great fun and nice to see lots of people contribute towards a good cause.
“I would like to thank all at Llangennech Rugby Club, everyone that came to the charity evening and everyone that gave towards the cause.”
‘Very generous donation’
Kath Watkins, Senior Sister at the unit, praised the efforts of Danielle and those who supported the event.
She said: “On behalf of the staff and patients at the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, I would like to thank Danielle and her family and friends for their fundraising efforts resulting in a very generous donation of £4,000.
“We are always looking at ways to improve the environment and improve the way we care for patients within the Chemotherapy Day Unit. Please be assured that this money will go towards this improvement. Thank you!”
Claire Rumble also thanked Danielle for her efforts.
She said: “Thank you to Danielle for taking the time to organise such a fantastic event in aid of the chemo unit.
