Court heard motorist was stopped following incident in Llanelli before Christmas
A 54-YEAR-OLD has been disqualified from driving after being caught behind the wheel while more than twice the legal alcohol limit.
Sharon Rees, of Maes y Dderwen, Llangennech, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on January 12th, where she admitted drink‑driving.
The court heard that on December 19th, 2025, Rees was stopped while driving a Fiat 500 on Brynmelyn Avenue, Llanelli. Tests showed she had 71 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath — more than twice the legal limit of 35.
She was fined £276 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £110 victim surcharge. Rees was banned from driving for 17 months, which can be reduced by 17 weeks if she completes a drink‑driver rehabilitation course.
Payment of the fine was ordered in £50 monthly instalments starting in February.
