Accused remanded in custody

A DEFENDANT has been remanded in custody after appearing before magistrates in Llanelli charged with making threats, assault and criminal damage.

Tristan Bennett, 22, of Great Western Crescent, Llanelli, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court in relation to offences alleged to have taken place on December 30, 2025.

He is charged with threatening to destroy property, contrary to sections 2(a) and 4 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971. It is alleged that at Llys Fran, Llanelli, he threatened to set fire to a house belonging to a woman, intending that she would fear the threat would be carried out.

He is further charged with assault by beating, contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988, and with criminal damage to property valued under £5,000, contrary to sections 1(1) and (4) of the Criminal Damage Act 1971. The criminal damage charge alleges that he damaged a rear-view mirror belonging to the same complainant.

Bennett entered not guilty pleas on January 10, 2026.

The matter was adjourned for trial and he was remanded in custody before conviction. Bail was refused on the grounds that he was likely to offend, including causing injury or fear of injury to an associated person, and because it was alleged the offences were committed while on bail.

The trial is listed for March 4, 2026 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.
