Sam Rowlands MS supports calls to raise awareness of strokes in North Wales

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has pledged his support to make stroke a health priority.

Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of the Stroke Association recently met with representatives at an event at the Senedd in Cardiff.

He said: “I am always pleased to support the work of the Stroke Association and help to raise awareness of this preventable disease.

“I fully support their calls to make stroke a health priority as it is something we should all be aware of and know more about.

“It is important to note that with the right investment stroke is preventable, treatable, and recoverable.”

The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families and is now calling on the Welsh Government to place stroke on top of its health priority list.

Annually, stroke costs NHS Wales £220 million, and the Welsh economy £1.63 billion. Without intervention, this could rise to £2.8 billion by 2035.

Every year in Wales, another 7,000 survivors face the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The good news is that with the right investment stroke is preventable, treatable, and recoverable.
