Man fined after assaulting police officer

Incident occurred while officer was acting in execution of duty

ASSAULTING a police officer during the course of their duties has resulted in a fine for a Carmarthenshire man.

Lee Bennett, aged 34, of Llanelli, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Feb 3) in connection with an offence said to have taken place on January 27, 2026.

The court heard that Bennett assaulted an emergency worker, namely a police officer, while the officer was acting in the execution of their duty. He entered a guilty plea, which was accepted by the magistrates.

As a result, the bench imposed a fine of £200. Bennett was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs along with a £48 victim surcharge.
